Our series of free Afternoon Recitals continues, we are delighted to welcome Lydia and Ben to the Fratry Hall.

A wonderful way to spend a Wednesday afternoon, come along enjoy lunch in the Cafe before or cake and coffee after! We hope to see you there.

While entry to our concerts is complimentary, we encourage contributions during the collection at the end of each performance to support both the talented artists and the Cathedral. Your generosity will help us continue to bring such events to the community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Lydia Rae is a jazz singer based in the Midlands and will be joined by local pianist Ben Lawrence. The duo formed last year after a shared love of the Great American Songbook and Golden Age Musical Theatre tunes sparked an idea to perform this repertoire together. They also have successful solo careers as artists; Lydia releasing their first EP in September 2025 and performing with their own band as well as fronting the Regeneration Big Band, whilst Ben plays for a wide range of ensembles from function music to progressive rock - having recently finished an Album Launch UK Tour with the Joe Steels Group. Having both been trained classically before venturing into the world of jazz, their performances have a way of spanning genres and blending sounds from music from the 20s to present day. They look forward to welcoming you to listen to their performance!
