Choose your venue

24-12 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY

• Decide on a budget (and stick to it!)

• Decide what type of wedding you want (Religious or Civil)

• Estimate a likely number of guests to determine what size of venue to shortlist

• Get out there and view some venues! (they book up early in the Lake District, Cumbria as it’s such a popular wedding destination)

• Book your Church & Registrar

• Decide on a theme


Wedding entertainment

12-9 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY

• Book your wedding entertainment
• Book your wedding photographer & videographer
• Book your hair & makeup artist
• Book your wedding transport
• Wedding Dress & Bridesmaid shopping!
• Discuss menus & book caterers
• Finalise the guest list


Wedding cake

9-6 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY

• Make sure you’ve ordered the dress!
• Order your wedding cake (you might even get some free samples while you’re at it)
• Send out your 'save the date' invitations
• Don’t forget the shoes & veil! (or any other accessories you might need)
• Book the wedding florist


Finishing touches

6-3 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY

• Purchase those bridesmaid dresses
• Don’t forget the wedding rings!
• Book your Honeymoon/Minimoon
• Shopping for Groomswear
• Set up your wedding gift list (free stuff WOO!)br /> • Book accommodation (if not in a hotel) and any accommodation for guests


Wedding dresses

3 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY

• Buy or make your wedding favours
• Hen & Stag parties
• Tasting menu from caterers
• Send out the wedding invitations
• Write the speeches (good luck!)
• Buy thank you gifts for members of the bridal party (not the flowers just yet…)
• Have a wedding dress fitting & break in those shoes
• Arrange the table plan (I wonder if my great aunt wouldn’t mind sitting with Gary from accounts)
• Choose the first dance • Choose any hymns, music and readings for the ceremony


Wedding drinks
1 WEEK BEFORE THE BIG DAY

• Confirm bookings & times with all the suppliers/caterers/venues (almost a military operation if we’re honest)
• Settle any remaining balances
• Collect hired Groomswear
• Collect any props for venues
• Panic (we don’t recommend this)
• Have a wedding rehearsal
• Confirm guest numbers
• Relax & enjoy the day
