This month, outdoor theatre returns to Brantwood with a magical performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream taking place in their lakeside meadow by Coniston water, followed by Peter Pan later this year.
On the western coast, The Beacon Museum is a fantastic place to spend a few hours: it highlights the fascinating history of Copeland, with exhibitions and events taking place throughout the month.
Theatre by the Lake has an exciting progamme of shows this year and being located by the shores of Derwentwater, you'll leave inspired and entertained.

Brantwood Outdoor Theatre is back! Join us on 21 June (Summer Solstice) for what promises to be a magical performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Fun for all the family at The Beacon Museum
The Beacon Museum at Whitehaven has something for the whole family to enjoy this summer, from the Pirates of the Beacon Exhibition, to the touring Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition, to our Museum galleries filled with lots of interactive elements from a VR mining experience to digital dress up, waiting for you to explore. Located on Whitehaven Harbour, the views from our Gallery are also not to be missed.

Summer shows at Theatre by the Lake
This summer, Theatre by the Lake (‘The most beautifully located and friendly theatre in England’, The Independent) is delighted to invite audiences back to the shores of Derwentwater.
From 17 June - 16 July, is The Climbers; set on Everest, it’s part love story, part ghost story and part mystery. What happened on the mountain and who is telling the truth? A mesmerising and thrilling exploration of the lure of the mountains.
Next up is a brand new production of ‘Deliriously funny’ (★★★★★ The Telegraph) West End hit One Man, Two Guvnors, from 20 July – 3 September. With live music and laugh out loud moments, this is a show guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
