June in the Lake District, Cumbria

Hello June: the last month of spring and the start of summer, with all the promise of new adventures ahead. The Jubilee weekend has arrived, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate. Check out what’s on here, and join us for a right royal knees up.

Later this month, summer officially begins – and there’s no better place to be than the Lake District, Cumbria. Let our landscapes amaze you with their natural beauty: from coast to countryside, there’s so much to explore. Why not make a trip of it, and stay a while? There are some truly stunning places to rest your head, whether you’re planning a last-minute getaway or booking ahead for your summer holiday. Book your accommodation and join us for a staycation to remember.

It's time to make memories to last a lifetime: across the region, local attractions offer both indoor and outdoor experiences for all to enjoy. Whether you’re visiting for the day or here for a longer stay, there’s so much to discover. From historic country homes to fascinating museums, steam trains to lake cruises, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to planning your trip.

Then there’s the great outdoors: lakes, mountains, beaches and more await. Heading out on the water? Temperatures can still be cold, so remember to stay safe and be #AdventureSmart while visiting.

This month, outdoor theatre returns to Brantwood with a magical performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream taking place in their lakeside meadow by Coniston water, followed by Peter Pan later this year.

On the western coast, The Beacon Museum is a fantastic place to spend a few hours: it highlights the fascinating history of Copeland, with exhibitions and events taking place throughout the month.

Theatre by the Lake has an exciting progamme of shows this year and being located by the shores of Derwentwater, you'll leave inspired and entertained.

After all that exploring, you’ll be ready to relax – and there are some great places to stay across the area.

Why not live out your dreams and sleep like royalty at Augill Castle: set amidst stunning grounds, it’s home to 13 stylish rooms as well as the Music Room Restaurant, serving up delicious and innovative dishes.

Prefer to go self-catered? Stay in specially selected holiday cottages packed with character with Coppermines Lakes Cottages. There are mountain cottages and cottages by the water to choose from, many of which are dog friendly too.

If you’re visiting with your motorhome, we’ve got plenty of useful tips to help you make the most of your visit. Check out our Van Life page  page for all the info you need, from parking advice to where to eat.
