The inaugural Chinese film festival in the Lake District, Cumbria - Mint Chinese Film Festival, is being held at Keswick Alhambra Cinema between the 3rd - 5th of February! The 2023 edition will focus on cross-cultural communication of Chinese cinema and women’s representation in films.
Included in the jam-packed programme are:

  • 8 feature films (3 UK premieres of women-made films)
  • Chinese silent film Pan Si Dong + Live music
  • 10-15 shorts films curated in 2 special strands (3 European premieres)
  • Audiences' Choice Award screening and voting for the winner out of over 400 submissions!
  • In-person panel discussions and workshop
  • Recorded messages and Q&As with film directors.

Save Ruskin's View, Kirkby Lonsdale

Ruskin's View, Kirkby Lonsdale, was once described by John Ruskin as 'one of the loveliest views in England'.

However, access to this popular viewpoint was closed in 2021 due to erosion from floods.

Now, the town is working to raise £1 million over twelve months to restore access to this stunning viewpoint for all to enjoy and connect with Kirkby Lonsdale's heritage and surrounding landscape.
