Sign up for a Forestry England membership for Whinlatter and/or Grizedale forests and enjoy free car parking all year plus a range of other great discounts for you and your family. A national membership also available, including parking at Forestry England sites across the country.
Whinlatter is England's only true mountain forest. Rising 1000ft above sea level, the forest and visitor centre provides a whole range of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy
The forest also offers excellent mountain biking, blue, red and black graded cycle trails as well as the forest road Gorse route – perfect for gravel riders.
If you've never tried orienteering, Whinlatter’s permanent orienteering courses are the perfect place to start, and runners can enjoy waymarked trails ranging from 2.5km right through to half marathon distance.
