You are here: Home > Things to Do > Whinlatter Mountain Biking Trails
Whinlatter Forest is home to the longest purpose-built mountain bike trail in the Lake District. The Red North and South loops put the mountain back into biking and have been built for experienced riders with good off-road skills and a higher level of fitness and stamina.
The full trail is a 19km red grade mountain bike route with challenging single-track sections, berms, jumps, rock features, skinnies, cork screws and tabletops. Riders can also enjoy fantastic view of Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite, Helvellyn and Skiddaw as the trail climbs to an altitude of 500m above Keswick.
Also available to try is the blue-graded Quercus Trail, up to 7.5km of flowing single track and the 10km Gorse gravel trail along forest fire roads. Buy your trail map from the visitor centre or download HERE
Bikes and e-bikes are available to hire or buy from Cyclewise, next to the visitor centre, who also offer a range of skills and bike maintenance courses.
