Ghyll Scrambling, Coniston (Age 8+)

Fun for the whole family!
This aquatic ghyll scramble is situated in a beautiful canyon only a short walk from Coniston. 
In its tree-covered steep gorge walls, you will plunge into crystal clear pools and scramble your way up rocky waterfalls. This ghyll has it all!! Deep pools, jumps, scrambles, climbs and slides. Our expert guides know the ghylls intimately and will tailor the day to your group offering up loads of fun challenges along the way. All the challenges, jumps, pools and climbs are optional.

This is the ultimate family adventure that will entertain the whole family!

Put on one of our high-quality warm wetsuits which are always clean, dry and well-fitted and let us guide you through this hidden gem. We provide all the necessary safety equipment and instruction so all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the adventure! 

We take photos and send them to you FREE at the end so you will have memories you'll remember forever.

Age 8 upwards. An average level of fitness is required for this activity.

Ghyll Scramble and Canyoning, Coniston (Age 14+)

Fun for the whole family!
This aquatic ghyll scramble is situated in a beautiful canyon only a short walk from Coniston. 
In its tree-covered steep gorge walls, you will plunge into crystal clear pools and scramble your way up rocky waterfalls. This ghyll has it all!! Deep pools, jumps, scrambles, climbs and slides. Our expert guides know the ghylls intimately and will tailor the day to your group offering up loads of fun challenges along the way. All the challenges, jumps, pools and climbs are optional.

This session is more committing and enters the bottom section of the Ghyll and also the top Canyon section if it is appropriate to the group and the conditions.

This is the ultimate family adventure that will entertain the whole family!

Put on one of our high-quality warm wetsuits which are always clean, dry and well-fitted and let us guide you through this hidden gem. We provide all the necessary safety equipment and instruction so all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the adventure! 

We take photos and send them to you FREE at the end so you will have memories you'll remember forever.

Age 14 upwards. An average level of fitness is required for this activity.
Duration: 3hrs

Before commencing the activity you must contact us with your sizes so we can bring the correct selection of wetsuits.

Please provide us with the following:
• Weight
• Height
• T-shirt or Dress size
• Shoe size for the wetsuit socks (these go inside your shoes)

What to bring:
• A pair of sturdy trainers or walking boots to go into the ghyll with. These need to be able to lace up tight so that they stay on in the moving water. Please note crocs, lightweight water shoes or sandals are not appropriate.
• Swimming costume or shorts for under the wetsuit. ESSENTIAL - Lightweight Jogging bottoms or leggings (not shorts) to go over the wetsuit (to protect the legs of the suit). We have spares if you need them.
• Towel.
• Medication.
• Parking money or you can use the Ringo App.

Please note, you will need to leave all valuables behind during your session and remove any jewellery, especially rings.

We will meet you in the car park where you will change into wetsuits. It is a short 6-7 minute walk from there to the start of the Ghyll. 

Spectators - can see the first quarter of the ghyll at which point the path ends and the ghyll is inaccessible as it goes into a canyon. There are loads of walks nearby and cafes in Coniston village which is a short walk away. Please note this is not a dog-friendly activity but there are plenty of walks nearby for spectators to take their furry friends.

Ghyll Scrambling, Langdale (Age 8+)

Fun for the whole family!
Situated in the heart of The Lake District National Park is Stickle Ghyll. A truly unique ghyll that winds its way up the mountainside towards Stickle Tarn, which is nestled between the magnificent Langdale Pikes.

Explore nature's playground and marvel at the stunning scenery on offer. Take the plunge into crystal clear pools and scramble your way up numerous rocky scrambles and waterfalls. Our expert guides know the ghylls intimately and will tailor the day to your group offering up loads of fun challenges along the way. All the challenges, pools and climbs are optional. 

The start is next to the car park and it is accessible with a public footpath running up the entire length. Perfect if you have party members that wish to spectate, but don't want to get their feet wet.

Put on one of our high-quality warm wetsuits which are always clean, dry and well-fitted and let us guide you up this exciting scramble. We provide all the necessary safety equipment and instruction so all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the adventure!

Ghyll Scrambling, Wasdale (Age 8+)

Fun for the whole family!
This Ghyll Scramble lies deep in a magnificent canyon, tucked secretly away in the stunning valley of Wasdale.  Steep Canyon sides add a magical and remote feel to this Ghyll. It has plunge pools, jumps, a cave, waterfalls to scramble up and a roped climb by the side of a waterfall to ascend out of the Ghyll. There is an optional big jump at the end. Take in the magnificent backdrop on your walk back down. You'll have elevated views over Wastwater and the majestic mountains of the western lakes. 

Our expert guides know the ghylls intimately and will tailor the day to your group offering up loads of fun challenges along the way. All the challenges, jumps and pools are optional. Please note: the short roped climb to exit out of the ghyll is compulsory. 

This is the ultimate family adventure that will entertain the whole family!

Ghyll Scrambling - Eskdale
If you want to go extreme, we have the ultimate all-day adventure in the Esk Gorge. Situated in the picturesque Esk valley surrounded by towering hills, this epic ghyll is full of fun scrambles, swims and loads of jumps some up to 8 metres in height. (Minimum age of 14)

Family Ghyll Scrambling
Ghyll Scrambling specifically for families with children from age 5 and upwards. We offer sessions aimed at different ages.  If your kids love splashing about in water or you want them to build water confidence then this is the activity for you.

The ghyll’s we choose for families are easily accessible. There are always options to avoid the deeper pools and obstacles if needed. Our expert instructors will offer a variety of challenges that both kids and adults will love.

What we provide:
We provide the best kit and equipment. Our full length, winter-thickness wetsuits and snug-neoprene socks are always clean, dry and fitted correctly.

Our expert guides know the ghylls intimately and will tailor the day to your group offering up loads of fun challenges along the way. All the challenges are optional.

Half-day Ghyll Scramble - 3hrs
Full-day Ghyll Scramble – 5-6hrs
