You are here: Home > Things to Do > Paddleboarding, Canoe, Kayak and Boat Hire from Derwentwater Marina
Choose from our huge selection of crafts to hire - go Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Canoeing, Rowing or on a Pedalo. Whether you fancy exploring the Islands or shoreline with a group of friends or with your family we’ve something for everyone. We will give you a general briefing about where to go on the lake. If you would like advice about what to hire please get in touch to discuss options.
Paddle Board Hire (SUP)
Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) are the most popular craft we hire & our Red boards are top of the range (we have a variety of different models). You can paddle them standing or kneeling - it’s fun either way.
Canoe Hire
Canoes are a popular boat for exploring the lake - perfect for taking a picnic and visiting an island or the beautiful shoreline along Derwent Water. We have a fleet of modern “Mad River” canoes which are fitted with extra buoyancy. Canoes are paddled using a single bladed paddle.
Single Sit-On Kayak Hire
One of our most popular craft to hire the single sit on top kayak is stable & easy to use. It has a moulded seat and footrests with a simple backrest.
Double Sit-On Kayak Hire
A sit on double kayak is an easy to use craft - an ideal choice for exploring the lake. It is great for either 2 adults or an adult & child. A double sit on kayak can also be paddled by one adult making it a great choice for anyone who is looking for a boat with higher capacity.
Single Sit-In Kayak Hire
Our fleet of modern kayaks are great fun to use & ideal for exploring Derwent Water. We have a mixture of “Dagger Katana 9.7s and Venture Flex” kayaks.
Pedalo Hire
Great fun for all the family - two of you pedal and steer the boat with a simple joystick control. Because of the stability of this craft & the open space at the front this is a popular choice for people with young children.
Rowing Boat Hire
The classic boat of The Lake District remains a firm favourite perfect for couples & families. Pack up a picnic and have a great time exploring Derwent Water.
Family Canoe Hire
Canoes are a popular boat for exploring the lake - perfect for taking a picnic and visiting an island or the beautiful shoreline along Derwent Water. We have two 'family' canoes which are fitted with two buoyancy chambers. Canoes are paddled using a single bladed paddle.
Derwentwater Marina is a busy Marina on Derwentwater offering boat hire, watersports shop & chandlery, berthing, boat sales and self-catering apartments. Hiring a boat is the perfect way to get out & explore Derwent Water. We will give you a general briefing about where to go on the lake but you should only hire craft that you are confident you and your party can manage. If you would like advice about what to hire please get in touch to discuss options. You can check out availability and book on our website.
