About

Rock Climbing

Challenge yourself - have a go at Rock climbing.

The Lake District is the birthplace of climbing in Britain, offering a huge variety of options to suit everyone. Our qualified and experienced instructors will be there to coach you and show you the ropes!

Rock climbing venues

Venues we use are around the Langdale, Coniston, Ulverston and Western Lakes area in the Lake District but if you have somewhere specific in mind please contact us.

Intro to Rock climbing

Join us in the beautiful Langdale valley where you will spend the morning at an elevated crag where you will have stunning views along the valley throughout your climbing. During the session our local instructor will show you the ropes, how to tie knots and teaching you to belay safely. Challenge yourself to climb various routes up the rock face and learn some useful techniques and tips that will help your climbing. Our small participant to instructor’s ratio will give you plenty of opportunity to climb and learn.

150ft Cathedral Quarry Abseil

The ultimate adrenaline rush!  As seen in Bear Grylls Mission with Warwick Davis

We'll take you on a 25 minute guided walk through beautiful woodland and 17th & 18th century slate mines with their rich history. The destination is Cathedral Quarry - bought by Beatrix Potter in 1929 and donated to the National Trust, it is preserved today for its geological interest as an important part of the local landscape. It is situated close to the village of Coniston. Here you can explore the awesome cavern and tunnels of the quarry. After exploring the quarry we'll make our way to the top where you'll have stunning views across the Langdale valley. You'll have the opportunity to have a few goes at abseiling down the big walls of the 150ft quarry. There are smaller abseils here too if you would like to build up to the big one.

Our friendly expert instructor will be there to help you every step of the way.

Want to follow in Bear Grylls footsteps? Path to Adventure provided safety and technical support on Bear Grylls mission with Warwick Davis. Do the abseil as seen on ITV!
