St. Bees
Beach Road Bakehouse is located overlooking St Bees Beach. It is now under new management from Gina Goulding who runs a local bakery at Kells, Bakes by Gina.
Ennerdale is the most westerly of the lakes, and the most remote. A deep glacial lake, Ennerdale Water is the only lake without a road next to it.
Most of this pleasant route follows signed sections of Hadrian’s Cycleway (72). St Bees village is reached following a free- wheeling descent to the Irish Sea where Wainright’s Coast to Coast Walk starts.
Take your bike on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway & bike the return journey through the beatiful Eskdale Valley. The route is virtually traffic free.
