New for 2023 is an exciting new arts programme, taking place along the Lake District coast. Deep Time – Commissions for the Lake District Coast features a series of free live and online events, developed for the stretch of coastline between Whitehaven and Millom.
Launching in Summer 2023, the project will see new artworks from an array of international artists installed in public spaces and buildings, drawing on the varied landscape and rich heritage of the Western Lake District & Coast, its people and place.
As part of ‘Deep Time’, four renowned artists have also put forward proposals for a major new landmark artwork. Visitors can get a sneak peek at designs this autumn at The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven (from 10 Sept); then Windemere Jetty Museum; and on the Deep Time website.
