Extreme Ghyll Scrambling

Ghyll Scrambling for adventurers!

The ultimate all-day adventure - not for the faint hearted!

Set in one of the most picturesque parts of the Lake District National Park in the upper Eskdale valley. Remote, off the beaten track and accessed by a 45 minute walk, you'll be surrounded by towering mountains such as Scafell Pike and Bowfell. With this magnificent backdrop, you'll discover a fabulous playground of waterfalls, rocks and big jumps (up to 8 metres in height).

There are loads of options in this ghyll. It is very open with various access points. All jumps and scrambles are optional.

Minimum age of 14 and a reasonable level of fitness required as this is a very physical day.

Ghyll Scrambling – Half Day

A great way to explore natures playground and see the magnificent scenery. Take the plunge into crystal clear pools and scramble your way up rocky waterfalls with optional roped climbs. A gorge is a truly unique environment - the sounds and feel of rushing water is something that will stay with you forever.

Family Ghyll Scrambling

Ghyll Scrambling for young explorers. An adventure aimed specifically for families with young children. If your kids love splashing about in water or you want them to build water confidence then this is the activity for you. Wetsuit up and scramble your way up a mountain stream. Climbing, splashing, jumping and laughing all the way. Ages 4+

The ghyll’s we choose for young families are easily accessible There are always options to avoid the deeper pools and obstacles if needed. Our expert instructors will offer a variety of challenges that both kids and adults will love. We can capture your adventure for you free of charge on a waterproof digital camera.

Other Ghyll Scrambling venues:

We use a variety of Ghyll Scrambling venues around Coniston, Langdale and Wasdale.  We'll use the best venue to suit your location and group. Minimum age of 4 years.

What we provide:

We provide all specialist safety equipment and you will be given a clean and dry full-length winter thickness wetsuits and neoprene socks to keep you snug. We have an extensive range of sizes to cater for all shapes and sizes. Your expert guide knows the ghyll intimately and will tailor the day to your group and will offer up fun challenges along the way.

We can capture your adventure for you free of charge on a waterproof digital camera.

* Open 7 days a week. Advanced booking required. Contact us to book or you can book our public sessions online.
We can be flexible regarding timings. Typically, our half day activities last between 2 – 3hrs and a full day is 5 – 6hrs

Only £79 for this full day of adventure. Half day Ghyll Scrambles start from £49 per person.
