Carlisle has witnessed centuries of history, and today there are lots of ways to learn more with museums, galleries and historic landmarks like Carlisle Cathedral and Carlisle Castle welcoming visitors. Nearby, the iconic Hadrian’s Wall - today a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is dotted with the fascinating remains of Roman turrets, towns and forts.
